Adam and Eve are the first human beings created by God and placed in the Garden. They are instructed by God not to eat the fruit from a specific tree, but they are tempted by Satan to disobey this command. Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve covered themselves with leaves from the garden after eating from the tree. leading to their expulsion from the Garden as a consequence of their actions.
In the Bible, the story of Adam and Eve can be found in the Book of Genesis, particularly in Genesis 2:4-3:24:
Genesis 2:16-17 (New International Version):
“And the Lord God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.'”
Genesis 3:6-7 (New International Version):
“When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.”
In the Quran, the story of Adam and Eve is mentioned in multiple verses, including:
The second surah in the Quran is Surah Al-Baqarah. Verses 35-37 of Surah Al-Baqarah are as follows:
35. “And We said, ‘O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers.'”
36. “But Satan whispered to them to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts. He said, ‘Your Lord did not forbid you this tree except that you become angels or become of the immortal.'”
37. “And he swore [by Allah] to them, ‘Indeed, I am to you from among the sincere advisors.'”
In the Bible, the story of Adam and Eve covering themselves with fig leaves after realizing their nakedness is mentioned in Genesis 3:7: “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.”
In the Quran, the story of Adam and Eve realizing their nakedness and covering themselves with leaves from Paradise is found in Surah Al-A’raf (7:22-23): “So he made them fall, through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to cover themselves with the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them: ‘Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is your open enemy?'”
